God is Dead – But His Throne Isn’t Empty

“If God is dead, somebody is going to have to take his place. It will be megalomania or erotomania, the drive for power or the drive for pleasure, the clenched fist or the phallus, Hitler or Hugh Hefner.”
― Malcolm Muggeridge

Look around, everyone has placed something on the throne of their lives.  We desperately need validation, justification, purpose, or completion.  Some have said that we are really looking for redemption.  Whatever the driving force, we have a number one.  Where does your security come from?

The simplest diagnostic test is to ask yourself a series of questions in which you must choose one area of your life over another.  Eventually something wins.

During a sermon about sin, Timothy Keller explained

“We don’t sin because we want bad things (necessarily), but because we want things so badly.”

Consider carefully what you allow to rule your life.

Anything that isn’t God, will eventually fail you.
